The Royal Palace of Venaria Reale - Unesco Patrimony
| In the second half of '600 among Savoias' projects to surround Turin with hunting and resort buildings, there was also the project to build a Royal Palace in a village which was at north-west of the city. |
| They chose an area near the ancient village of Altessano, an area rich with fauna for hunting, His Majesty Carlo Emanuele II's main hobby. |
The task was given to the architect of the court Amedeo of Castellamonte. The idea was to build a hunting resort, so, beside the Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, Amedeo of Castellamonte planed to build the village hinged on the main street (via Mensa) which leads to the castle.

A new town was born forever linked to the vicissitudes and the history of its important building.
All along these centuries the building and the village itself have been enlarged by the most renowned architects such as Michelangelo Garace, Filippo Juvarra, Benedetto Alfieri.
Later on, though, fire, destruction and rebirth, had turned the Royal Palace, that used to be Savoias' delightful resort, into Barracks, storehouse, down to the worst degradation and carelessness.
With the proclamation of the Royal Palace "Unesco Patrimony", another ribirth is taking place. The restoration, lasted years and years, has brought the building and the gardens back to the ancient magnificence.
Thanks to its Royal Palace, Venaria is reviving, discovering a sudden touristic vocation.
